Steinway & Sons
Steinway has been a premier piano manufacturer since its first exhibition gold medals in 1855. Founded by German immigrant and piano maker Henry Engelhard Steinway in 1853, Steinway & Sons still builds many of the finest pianos in the world. In 1871 Steinway opened a London showroom, followed by the famous Hamburg factory in 1880.
The Steinway dynasty developed many of the patents which led to what we now consider the modern piano. Forbes magazine in their October 27,1986 issue documented how a fine piano such as a Steinway was also a fine investment, not only holding value, but appreciating more rapidly than a Mercedes or fine wine. Steinways are among the current favorites for modern concert performers.
